Therapy for Children

Is your child worried, sad, having trouble with transitions, going through a major life event, or struggling with difficult behaviors? If so, they may benefit from therapy.

With children I utilize Play Therapy. Children speak, in part, through play. Children are still developing their language skills and emotional awareness, and one of the ways they do this is imaginative play. Children often enact what they are thinking, feeling, and processing through the themes in their play. An example is when children play doctor around the time of a pediatrician appointment.

Children benefit from a mix of play based interventions, along with behavioral techniques derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and/or mindfulness. I work with children ages 5 years old and up. Sessions are typically 45 minutes 1-2x per week.

I believe children benefit from family sessions to promote communication, generalize skills to the home, and strengthen family bonds. Family sessions are conducted as needed depending on each child and family’s needs. Family sessions are typically 60 minutes.
